On April 22, the project launch meeting and implementation plan demonstration meeting for the "Key Technologies for Intraoperative Navigation Using Chiral Neuropeptide Bioprobes Materials" under the National Key R&D Program "Diagnosis and Treatment Equipment and Biomaterials" was held at the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Li Chunrong, Deputy Director of the Agricultural and Social Development Technology Division of the Ningbo Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Zhang Xizheng, Researcher at the Institute of Medical Equipment, Academy of Military Medical Sciences, Guo Quanyi, Professor at the Chinese PLA General Hospital, Wang Xiujie, Researcher at the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Qian Zhiyong, Professor at West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Liang Gaolin, Professor at Southeast University, Hu Hongjie, Professor at the Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Kong Xiangdong, Professor at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, and other experts attended the meeting. Key personnel, backbones, and project managers from all participating institutions were also present.
Li Chunrong extended a warm welcome and sincere thanks to the experts who attended the meeting. He emphasized that the Ningbo Municipal Science and Technology Bureau attaches great importance to scientific and technological innovation in the life and health field and has instructed the project team to address the current issues with imaging probes in precise tumor identification and treatment. The goal is to develop a new type of chiral neuropeptide bioprobe material to improve the sensitivity of tumor-specific imaging and to achieve a series of original major results, providing more effective diagnostic and therapeutic methods for clinical use.
Wu Aiguo, Researcher from the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, expressed gratitude on behalf of the institute for the support from the Biological Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ningbo Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, as well as the guidance from the expert group and the support of all participating institutions. He requested the experts to offer valuable opinions and suggestions and assured that the project team would complete all tasks and objectives on time, with high quality and efficiency.
The head of the expert group, Zhang Xizheng, led the demonstration session of the project implementation plan. The project leader, Li Juan, Researcher at the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, reported the overall situation and implementation plan of the project, including the research background and objectives, assessment indicators and methods, key issues and technologies, research content and technical route, project schedule and milestones, research team and work foundation, as well as organizational management and coordination mechanisms. Professor Huo Shuaidong from Xiamen University and Associate Researcher Zeng Qin from Sichuan University made reports in response to the expert group's inquiries. The expert group members unanimously agreed that the project implementation plan aligns with the project task book requirements, the technical route and assessment indicators are clear, and the project tasks are reasonably set. The project's stage goals and division of labor are clear, the schedule is reasonable, and the responsibilities of the project’s legal entity are well-defined, with a sound communication and inspection mechanism. The expert group unanimously agreed to approve the implementation plan and offered valuable suggestions regarding project management, task coordination, progress scheduling, the selection and layout of third-party testing agencies, etc.
Wu Aiguo, on behalf of the project team, expressed heartfelt thanks for the expert group's guidance and urged the project team to promptly review and implement the expert suggestions to ensure the successful completion of the project.
The project is led by the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, in collaboration with three leading institutions: Xiamen University, Sichuan University, and other relevant specialized teams. A strong team, covering bioprobe material design, optical performance imaging regulation, and safety evaluation of probe materials, has been formed. The team has access to 10 national and provincial-level platforms, including the National Engineering Research Center for Biomaterials. The project involves a total of 22 participants, including 6 senior professionals.
