On October 10, 2025, the China Biomaterials Conference opened in Shaoxing, Zhejiang. During the opening ceremony, Dr. Wu Aiguo, a researcher from the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was elected as a Fellow of the Chinese Society for Biomaterials (FCSBM) for 2025.
The title of Fellow of the Chinese Society for Biomaterials (FCSBM) is the highest lifelong honor for members of the society, awarded to distinguished members for their outstanding contributions to the development of biomaterials and the work of the society. It also aims to encourage members to continually strive for scientific and technological excellence. To date, there are 79 Fellows in the Chinese Society for Biomaterials.
Dr. Wu Aiguo, a researcher and National Distinguished Young Scholar, specializes in biomedical frontier molecular imaging probes, biomaterials, and related instruments. His research areas include MRI probes, ultrasound contrast agents, NPY-targeted tumor treatment visualization imaging probes, and the development of related instruments. He has created an original research system in these fields. Dr. Wu has published over 300 papers, which have been cited more than 25,000 times, and has authored six monographs. He has filed 272 domestic and international invention patents, with 145 granted, and has led the formulation of one national standard and one industry standard. He has received several prestigious awards, including the China Analytical Testing Association Science and Technology Grand Prize and two Ningbo City Science and Technology Progress First Prizes (both as the first author).
As a project leader, he has led over 40 major projects, including key R&D projects from the Ministry of Science and Technology, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Distinguished Young Scholars, and China Academy of Sciences Pilot B projects. He has been selected for the Chinese Academy of Sciences Talent Program and is a Fellow of the International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Science and Engineering, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK), and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (UK). He currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Committee at the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, a Director of the Chinese Society for Biomaterials, a Vice Chair of several professional committees including the Chinese Biophysics Society Materials Biology and Intelligent Diagnosis and Therapy Technology Division, Chinese Anti-Cancer Association Nanomedicine Tumor Committee, Chinese Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Engineering Ultrasound Molecular Imaging Professional Committee, and the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering Nanobiomedicine Engineering Division, among others. Additionally, he is a member of the Analysis Chemistry Discipline Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society.
